Wine & Walking Tours
There’s no better way to soak up the Italian countryside than on foot. Feel the Mediterranean sun warming your soul, breathe in the heady perfume of rosemary, jasmine, and wild broom in the spring or fermenting grapes in the fall. Have your cake—or your gelato—and eat it too, after you burn through the calories on our daily hikes.
All our hiking tours are seven days, with a break in the middle: a day without hiking or an easy-does-it shortie. We typically set off around 9 a.m. and hike for three to four hours, finishing by lunch or early afternoon. Mileage can run between 5 to 10 miles per day, with hikes generally around 6 to 7 miles. When the terrain permits (i.e., on most hikes), there is a support van available throughout the day—to refuel on biscotti, throw in your jacket or camera, or jump in for a ride if you get too tired. For more details on difficulty level, see the Trip Notes under each itinerary.
Every afternoon, your efforts are rewarded with a wine tasting. When we’re in wine country, we visit an estate for a private tour and tasting. If we’re outside of vineyard areas (e.g., on the Cinque Terre), we’ll have an educational tasting at our hotel before dinner—usually with a stellar view to enhance the taste!
