Amalfi Coast for Wine Lovers
Exploring Campania, from Pompei to Positano
Trip Notes:
Airports
Naples or Rome. Both offer multiple trains to our meeting spot in Caserta, south of Naples. From Rome, it's 1 to 2 hours, depending on the choice of train. From Naples, it's 35 to 45 minutes. You can fly directly to Rome from various cities in the U.S. To fly direct to Naples, there's only Meridiana, leaving from New York. Otherwise, you’ll have to connect somewhere in Europe.
Pre-tour
Plan to land in Italy at least a day before the tour begins; that’s necessary to be at our meeting point on time.
Meeting point
We meet at the train station in Caserta (see above). Details will be provided upon booking.
Departure day
On our final day, we’ll have you at the Sorrento train station by noon. If you're flying from Naples, we can take you to the airport.
Italian train schedule
Click here for the Trenitalia schedule in English. Be aware that the schedule is posted just a few months in advance, so if you’re looking for long-range dates, try something sooner, if only to get an idea of departure frequency and trip length.
Trip extensions
Because The Amalfi Coast tour does not include any time in Naples, we recommend spending a few days here, either before or after our tour. All of the treasures from Pompeii are actually in Naples, at the National Archaeological Museum. Plus, there are museums, castles, churches, and palaces that cover 2800 years of history. And there’s authentic Neapolitan pizza!
Travel insurance
This is recommended to protect you from needless loss caused by last-minute cancellations, lost luggage, and more. One source is Travelex Insurance: www.travelexinsurance.com, (800) 228-9792 (please use our compay code: 21-0043 LDV).
Weather
Go to KnowItal.com to find out average temperatures in Naples for any week of the year. This site is also useful to see the forecast when you’re packing, as is weather. Go to “Naples, Italy” and “Amalfi, Italy” to get a general idea of temperatures and forecast.
