Welcome to Barolo country, where our tour begins.
Day 1 coincides with Alba's annual medieval parade and food fest
Each neighborhood does a historical reenactment in the parade.
Oxen pull the palio (flag), the prize in the donkey race
They're off and running at the Palio degli Asini
Cheers to the winning team!
After the palio, there's plenty of cheese, salumi & other goodies to sample.
That includes truffles. Tis the season!
